Ranger Led Nature Walk MacArthur State Park

- Join RFAR (Recess for Active Retirees) for a Ranger-Led Nature Walk at beautiful John D. Macarthur State Park. Meet near the gift store at 9:45 AM. Bring your camera, sunscreen, water and good walking shoes. Leave your lunch in your car and you can bring it and eat under s lovely, rustic, shaded chickee.

. Admission $5 per car .This is the only State Park within Palm Beach County and in addition to the variety of environments, boasts 1.6 miles of pristine beach.
John D. MacArthur Beach State Park | Florida State Parks. Meet Monday April 24 2023 9:45 AM at the gift shop for the 10 AM Ranger guided nature walk of about 1 & 1/2 hours. The lead guide will be Stephanie Grant. She is an amazing volunteer who has been leading educational tours for the park for over 20 years. This is not a hike, we will be stopping frequently to point out and explain about the plants and animals. The boardwalk is out in the open so wear protective clothing if sun exposure is a concern. . The 1/3 mile Dune Hammock Trail is shaded. Wear comfortable shoes; bring camera, binoculars, water and sunscreen. You may wish to take advantage of an optional visit to the Nature Center afterward to see it’s exhibits, live animals and aquarium. They also have (3) 15 minute nature films to watch in the air conditioned theater. Bring a picnic lunch…. we can eat in a covered area over near Satin Leaf Trail . You may want to drive there. Can walk Satinleaf trail if you want . 1.3 miles trail is located at the north end of the Park near the playground and the north pavilion.
The Satinleaf Trail winds through a mixed maritime hammock comprised of 60%-70% tropical plant species. Hammocks are forested areas that are slightly higher than the surrounding land. As you walk the trail, be sure to notice the subtle elevation changes and the corresponding changes in plant life that accompany them. Check out this website:
